Okinawa Prefecture has been Japan's worst prefecture in the rate of traffic accidents causing physical injuries or fatalities related to drunk-driving for 25 consecutive years. Furthermore, the rate of fatal accidents related to drunk driving is also the worst in the nation. As such, the Okinawa Prefectural Government, Okinawa Prefectural Police, local municipalities, relevant agencies/organizations, enterprises and the citizens of Okinawa will conduct a campaign to raise awareness against and eradicate drunk driving in Okinawa.

** Always be vigilant when consuming alcohol **

During this period, the Okinawa Prefectural Police will enforce regulations on drunk driving through vehicle inspections/sobriety checks, inspections of establishments serving alcohol, and patrols in the local communities. Personnel are requested to cooperate with local authorities when requested.
