Crews from DPW’s Pier Maintenance and Heavy Equipment Shops recently completed Phase 1 of the installation of pre-painted, pre-cast concrete stop blocks along a 150-meter section along the pier at Naha Military Port. This 2-1/2 month project involved removal of the old stop blocks and setting new mounting bolts on epoxy-cement grout after drilling through the existing concrete decking. Future phases are planned to gradually replace the existing wooden stop blocks which are prone to deterioration due to age and weather.
