Courtney Fest 2012 to be held Dec. 8-9
CAMP COURTNEY, OKINAWA, Japan – Camp Courtney will be hosting an annual open base event on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8-9. Courtney Fest 2012 will be open to the public from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. both days.
During the event, there will be static displays of several military vehicles, live entertainment by both U.S. and local entertainers, games and activities for children of all ages, food, music, dances and prize giveaways.
The Marine Corps institutes and actively participates in numerous base support and community outreach programs on Okinawa to build mutual trust and respect between Marines and the local community. Marines in Japan participate in more than 2500 community relations events throughout the year, from annual festivals, to sporting events, to beach cleanups, music festivals, and more.
Our most valuable relationships are with our community neighbors, and the many events we hold, such as this open base festival, are designed to reach out to our Okinawa friends and neighbors.
Media representatives are invited to cover this event between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 8. Marine Corps Community Services representatives and Marines will be available to talk to the media regarding the details of the event and the importance of interacting with our community.
