FOR THE DOGS: Kokeshi Roller Dolls to host fundraiser May 9
Okinawa — Doggies Inc. will be sponsoring a fundraiser bout hosted by the Kokeshi Roller Dolls Saturday, May 9 at Marine Hanger 3 on Kadena Air Base. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the hard-hitting action begins at 6 p.m. The bout is FREE to enter, and donations collected at the door will go directly to Doggies Inc.
Doggies Inc. is dedicated to making a difference for neglected, abused, and unwanted animals. They rescue animals from “death row” at various shelters and help find forever homes. For more information concerning adoption, stop by their table and meet some furry friends at the bout or visit doggiesinc.org.
The Kokeshi Roller Dolls was established in August 2010 to provide a healthy, competitive, and enjoyable sport to the military, civilian, and local populations. They operate in accordance with the WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) rules and regulations, and function as a non-profit organization to support and further the worldwide roller derby community and to provide an opportunity for friendship and recreation.
The skater-run league is made up of over 50 players, coaches, non-skating officials, and referees. Marine Hanger 3 is located just off Douglas Boulevard. If you are traveling from Kadena Gate 1, at the light after the Kuter/Douglas intersection, take a left on Arnold Avenue and follow the road to the right. Plenty of parking will be available and concessions will be sold at the bout.
