Military Lodge No. 68 to host banquet Dec. 8
Okinawa Military Lodge No. 68 will host their End of Year Banquet at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Crow’s Nest Club on Camp Shields. The yearly event hosted by the masonic organization on Okinawa is open to the public according to President Jarvis Johnson.
“The banquet is will start at 19:00 and go roughly to 21:00,” Johnson said. “We have phenomenal speakers that are past masters of Okinawa Military Lodge. I’m pretty sure they often share some words and say some things.”
“The end of the year banquet is open to all,” Johnson said. “We encourage brothers to bring their families and friends, so that way they’re recognized publicly. This is not a secluded event. We welcome individuals to come out.”
Johnson said this will be a great opportunity for people to get to know what the organization is about, and meet and chat with masons, whether you are already part of the organization or are coming from the outside.
“It’s an open event,” Johnson said. “If somebody is just passing by and they are interested in what we are doing, they are more than welcome to come in.”
The End of Year banquet is meant to be an opportunity for everybody to have a good time, according to Johnson. It’s also an opportunity to commemorate the achievements by the members of the lodge, whose goal is to give back to the community.
“We have a lot of members within the organization that did phenomenal things, whether it be at work or a volunteer service,” Johnson said. “Contributing back to the organization - with their time and efforts - it’s definitely a time to recognize them for their achievements. It’s also a time for the families to come out and see what every rank contributed back to the community.”
