Okinawa Airborne soldiers jump at Yokota
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Okinawa’s Airborne soldiers took part in Yokota Air Base’s Friendship Festival by jumping from a C-130 Hercules over the weekend.
The jump was part of a scheduled joint training between the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) from Torii Station, Okinawa, and Yokota’s 374th Airlift Wing. The training coincided with the festival.
According to air base officials, more than 178,000 guests visited during the two-day event. Several thousand people watched the 13 paratroops jump from two C-130 Hercules aircraft and safely land on the base.
The soldiers also trained with Air Force personnel at Camp Fuji in Shizuoka, Japan, and climbed Mt. Fuji as part of a “long range mountain movement” exercise.
