CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – The III Marine Expeditionary Force Band and the University of Ryukyu Wind Orchestra Band Club will conduct a joint performance Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m. in the Camp Foster Theater.

The III MEF Band and the University of Ryukyu will be performing a variety of music for citizens, Status of Forces Agreement personnel and their families.

The concert will be an excellent opportunity for the audience to experience Okinawa and U.S. music.

Prior to the performance the two bands have had several practices in the last week to prepare for their first performance together, sharing musical skills and creating friendships.

Prior to the concert, the III MEF Band has also been heavily involved in community service. The III MEF Band has performed in several countries in the region, including the Kingdom of Thailand, Guam, the Republic of Korea, and most recently on Oshima Island to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami disaster on March 2011.
