KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- The Kadena Education Office and Top 3 have teamed up to present the Kadena Air Base 2013 Community College of the Air Force graduation ceremony.

The event will take place May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Keystone Theater.

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony at the Schilling Community Center Ballroom and a photographer will be available at the reception to capture the event. The ceremony honors the dedication and determination of the individuals completing this academic achievement.

The CCAF concept evolved in the early 1970s as a means of gaining recognition for Air Force training. Visionaries recognized the need to enhance the skills of noncommissioned officers as technicians, leaders and citizens and increase their development as managers.

The CCAF was established April 1, 1972, at Randolph AFB, Texas, and is accredited through Air University by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. CCAF has awarded over 400,000 associates degrees.

The completion of this educational milestone is a testament to the Airmen's perseverance and hard work. The members of the Kadena Base Education Center and Kadena Top 3 extend their congratulations to the graduates and encourage families and friends, commanders, supervisors and co-workers to celebrate and honor this major accomplishment at the graduation ceremony.

Pitsenbarger Award
The Air Force Association will offer the coveted Pitsenbarger Award to graduating CCAF students who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Winners of this award will also receive a one-time $400 scholarship. Award winners must be graduating to receive this award.
