Baby showers are special celebrations friends and families host for their expectant loved one. However, oftentimes due to deployments, expectant military moms miss out on celebrating the upcoming birth of their child with those they love most, because they are thousands of miles from home. Through the “Special Delivery” program, the USO, best-selling author Heidi Murkoff and her What to Expect Foundation have teamed up to give these special moments back to military moms- a heartfelt thank you for their service and sacrifice. The showers, which are hosted around the world, are complete with food, gifts, games and a Q&A session and book signing with Murkoff. During the Q&A, Murkoff discusses important questions about birth and motherhood and helps create new bonds between the military moms.
