The Air Force Clubs Scholarship Program will award 25 scholarships valued at $1,000 each to college-bound Air Force Club members and their eligible dependents.

To have a chance at winning a scholarship, applicants must submit a 500-words-or-less essay on how to create new interest and grow any one of the Air Force’s MWR programs.

Due to both budgetary constraints and a larger portion of military families living outside of installations, an increasing number of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs and facilities have closed.

The Scholarship Program is seeking good ideas on how to revitalize and grow a number of these programs. In the essay, applicants must explain the “who, what, when, where and why” of how they would add new life into an MWR program.

To be eligible to win, applicants must be club members in good standing or members’ dependents. Applicants also must either be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college/university for the fall 2014 term. Essays will be accepted March 16 through April 15.

In the last 15 years, the Air Force Clubs Scholarship Program has provided almost $375,000 in college tuition assistance to Air Force Club members and their families.

Applicants must visit www.myairforcelife.com/Clubs/Scholarship.aspx to submit their essay and application. Essays will be judged on grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity and the relevance of the essay content to the required topic.

Winners will be announced May 25. This is an Air Force wide competition.
