January looks to be a good time for a motor enthusiast on the island.

Come January 21 and 22, a group of classic cars will rally across the island in a two-day event. If you’re unable to catch a glimpse of these cars as speed by, you’ll have a chance to get a closer look at some more modern cars, with a show the following weekend.

The Classic Car Rally Okinawa, which was launched last year, makes a comeback to Okinawa featuring classic cars. If the brand/model names such as “ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA,” “SIMCA 8” or “CHEVROLET BEL AIR 210” ring a bell to you, check out the race route on the website below, and maybe you’ll get a chance to encounter the convoy of rare cars straight out of a classic car magazine.

After enjoying the old cars as they speed by, you can turn your eyes to some more modern rides.

On January 28 and 29, Okinawa Customcar Show will be held at Chura Sun Beach Toyosaki. The show will feature all kinds of customized cars of all brands. Close to 100 companies are expected to set up booths; some specializing in customizing SUVs and minivans or making luxury cars even more gorgeous.

If you are a motorhead, the show might serve as your next inspiration, or even if you are not much of a car enthusiast, bring the family to check out what the car industry currently has to offer.
