JASDF sergeant at Yokota Air Base arrested
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — A Japan Air Self-Defense Force sergeant assigned to Yokota Air Base was arrested under suspicion of producing child pornography and violating an ordinance “regarding the healthy development of youths.”
Staff Sgt. Hitoshi Kamijima, 30, is accused of taking partially nude photos of a 17-year-old girl on a street in Tokyo’s Taito ward and later molesting her at a hotel, according to Nippon News Network, a Japanese broadcaster. Kamijima allegedly told police he committed the acts without thinking of the consequences, the report said.
Kamijima, who was arrested Sept. 28 and is now out of jail and back on duty at the air base in western Tokyo, performs duties that “pertain to the coordination of equipment relating to operations,” a JASDF spokesman said.
Col. Shizuo Kashiwase, JASDF’s Yokota commander, said JASDF “will investigate the details of the incident and take strict action accordingly.”
