Okinawa base gas stations may experience service disruptions
The Defense Logistics Agency has awarded a new Ground Fuel Contract for Gasoline in Okinawa. This is a government contract and not an AAFES contract.
The current contractor Asian Logistics Partners (ALP) lost the contract and has now refused to fulfill anymore delivery requests though they were required to continue deliveries until 10 June at which time the new contract would take effect.
The PAC Region HQ team have been working with DLA Japan on a solution, idea one being allowing the new contractor to start deliveries immediately which entails the contracting officers at DLA HQ Belvoir to take action today.
If deliveries do not resume on Okinawa today both Foster and Kadena main service stations will be without Gasoline with Fairchild will be next to run out.
