Sigma Gamma Gamma Celebrates Que-Nic Anti-Bullying Campaign
The Brothers of Sigma Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. held its 4th annual Que-Nic Anti-Bullying Campaign on Saturday September 24, 2016 at Ryukyu Middle School football field. This event was held in conjunction with the Okinawa Youth Football League Pep Rally. Various organizations such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the Prince Hall Masonic Family set up booths around the football field to provide parents and students with information about bullying, scholarships, talent hunt and upcoming community events. In addition raffle drawings were held for over $300 in cash, prizes and gift cards. Everyone in attendance received free hot dog, hamburger, chips, water and Gatorade.
The Ani-Bullying Campaign is held during the month of October and unites communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. This year the Brothers of Sigma Gamma Gamma Chapter continued spreading their motto “Bullies Never Win” with information booths set up at three different locations in Okinawa, Japan on the following dates:
October 15 – Camp Foster Marine Base
October 22 – Camp Courtney Marine Base
October 29 – Camp Kinser Marine Base
Each child that participated in the Anti-Bullying Campaign received a free purple and gold bracelet, book mark and candy. Over 300 children from elementary, middle and high schools sign the Anti-Bullying Pledge:
I Pledge to Be a Kid Against Bullying!
As A kid Against Bullying, I will:
* Speak up when I see bullying
* Reach out to others who are bullied
* And be a friend whenever I see bullying
