Soldiers join JGSDF in first jump

CAMP NARASHINO, Japan -- Nine U.S. Army Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), on Okinawa participated in the first jump here Jan. 8. The Soldiers teamed up with other Japan Ground Self-Defense Force parachutists as a bilateral event jumping from a JGSDF CH-47 helicopter. The event was attended by a number of Japanese and American military leadership along with the Japanese public. Major Gen. James F. Pasquarette, commander of U.S. Army Japan, from Camp Zama, was the senior U.S. Army member present to watch the demonstration of parachuting, and other military tactics presented by JGSDF members.
