The price is right at this new Asian seafood restaurant
Editor's Note: Hey! Have you found a great place to eat? If so, share it with us and we'll post it on this site and run it in our weekly Stripes Okinawa community newspaper. We look forward to hearing from you.
A new Asian seafood restaurant, Umihana, has opened by the Mihama, American Village area. The restaurant is open daily from 11:00-22:00, with the last order taken at 21:30. They have lunch set specials that change daily between 11:00-14:00. Dinner runs between 17:00-22:00.
On this particular day, the lunch special offered a main choice of sweet and spicy chicken, or fish in a sweet Chinese type of sauce for a flat fee of 1,000 yen each. The wife and I each tried the different dishes. They came with sides of rice, soup and pickled vegetables. The order also comes with an all-you-can-eat salad/soft drink bar that also serves cake. The salad bar offered a unique potato salad that included bits of seafood. All of this made the overall price an excellent deal.
The inside seating consisted of a very large open space which allowed plenty of privacy, with each table spaced far apart.
To get there, drive past the front of the Jusco/Aeon shopping center in Mihama/American Village. You'll come to a 4-way stop light. To your left will be the 7-plex movie theatre and the Ferris Wheel will be on your right. Keep going straight through the intersection. Go past the Dragon Palace on your right and you'll see a turn on your left into a huge open field area.
There is a new hotel being built there. The restaurant sits in the square building right on the water, next to the docks. There is plenty of free parking available.
I will definitely be going back for more.
