Tell Us About Them:
Emily hit the ground running from day 1 with USO Kinser and hasn’t stopped since.  Her drive and passion to bring quality programming to the service members and families on Camp Kinser is reflected by the large turn-out of patrons her programs receive. She’s worked tirelessly with base leadership to ensure USO Kinser is providing what is needed, and that all aboard the camp are aware of the USO Mission to connect service members to family, home and country.
Her dedicated troop of USO Kinser volunteers are the backbone to her success.  Together, Emily and USO Kinser volunteers conducted and hosted large-scale family friendly programs such as Kinser’s Got Talent, EmPact, the Kinser Block party, a Welcome Home for 300 Sailors and Marines from CLR-35, and the on-going weekly food programs.  Emily and her volunteers are rock stars and greatly valued by USO Okinawa.

1. Why do they love working at the USO?

I love working for the USO because of the organizational mission. As a military spouse, the USO’s ability to connect me to family, home and country has happened in so many ways. And now to have the opportunity to pass the torch of light and comfort to our community has been a privilege and honor. Being at the center in whatever way on any given day whether it be a listening ear, a homecooked meal, assist in a phone call or just lend a helping hand, every day brings a new day of smiles!

2. What is their favorite memory of working at the USO?

There are so many wonderful memories that it’s honestly hard to pick just one. If I had to some it be as an overall memory for me. The memories of smiles, surprises and being able to support our military community is the best memory. There is no better feeling then to be there when someone needs you.

Okinawa USO’s are amazing and the entire island team works so hard to provide memories for others during their stay here away from home. Being part of a group of people who are innovative to connect all branches, all ranks and all ages is a memory that I will forever cherish and continue to do so now!
