CFAO Sailor participates in Kadena Eisa Festival

OKINAWA, Japan (August 26, 2018) Naval Aircrewman (Mechanical) 2nd Class Javontae Cooper, from Snow Hill, Md., assigned to Fleet Activities Okinawa, plays the paarankuu, a small hand drum, during the Kadena Eisa Festival. Eisa is a traditional Okinawan dance that uses drumming and chanting and is performed during Obon, a Buddhist holiday which honors the spirits of their ancestors. The Kadena Eisa Festival is a yearly event taking place on the day after the end of Obon.
