Motor sports festival returns Nov. 17-18
The Koza Motor Sport Festival returns once again to Okinawa Nov. 17-18.
The 2018 version of the free event will take place at Okinawa City Koza Athletic Park and showcase the diverse fun that motor sports have to offer.
One of the main features will be demonstrations by top riders and drivers of extreme bikes (motorcycle stunt riding), motorcycle trials, and formula drift racing.
Takuma Sato, the winner of Indianapolis 500, is scheduled to make a guest appearance and show off some of his driving skills in a go-kart.
For those who are inspired by the smoking tires and roaring exhaust pipes, there will be opportunities to get in on the action. Visitors can be a passenger of a vehicle and experience the mind-bending horizontal moves by the drifting experts. And a two-seater go-kart is also scheduled to be available for those with kids.
The program will also include food vendors and customized vehicles on display.
Last year, the event drew 36,000, and because of its popularity, visitors are advised not to park their vehicles at or around the venue. Instead, they can take a free shuttle bus from Aeon Mall Okinawa Rycom (or Okinawa City Office or Awase Fishing Port) or take a 10 to 20-minute walk from Kadena Air Base.
If you love motor sports, this annual event is a good opportunity to share your passion on wheels with local Okinawans.
