The American Forces Network (AFN) is ringing in the New Year by starting programming from providers such as HBO, Showtime and Netflix at an earlier time.
“Our viewers told us they enjoyed our premium content programming and mature-themed movies immensely, but want to watch at an earlier and more convenient time,” said Karreem Lowe, AFN’s Chief of Entertainment Programming. “An added benefit is starting the programs an hour earlier, which allows us to air more premium TV content.”
Viewers told AFN while they wanted to watch shows such as Game of Thrones, Goliath and House of Cards, the price they paid for tuning in at 11 p.m. or later was lost sleep and lagging a bit the next morning at physical fitness training.
Effective Dec. 31, premium shows will begin at 10 instead of 11 p.m. (Japan/Korea Time and Central European Time) on AFN|spectrum.  TV-MA Movies will start at 10 p.m. on AFN|movie.
Other premium content shows airing on AFN|spectrum include Narcos, Channel Zero: The Dream, True Blood and Breaking Bad.
