A U.S. Astronaut is joining with military leaders and celebrities to recognize American high school seniors enlisting in the military following graduation in a show airing on AFN TV.

America Salutes 2021 airs on AFN|family on May 22 at 6 p.m. in Japan, Korea and Central Europe. The program, hosted by John Huertas of the NBC Show This Is Us, includes a musical performance by Lee Greenwood as well as thank you messages from celebrities and military leaders.  One highlight is a greeting from NASA Astronaut Christopher J. Cassidy, a Navy Captain.

“We’re proud to broadcast America Salutes 2021,” said AFN’s Chief of Television, Karreem Lowe. “It gives our service members and their families a unique opportunity to see a show recognizing and honoring our nation’s youngest and newest service members.”

Dr. Kenneth Hartman, a former Army officer and the founder and president of Our Community Salutes, said his organization has honored tens of thousands of high school seniors across the United States since 2009.  “We’re honored to partner with AFN on this important broadcast,” he said.
