AFN TV Commemorating Marine Birthday and Veterans Day

The American Forces Network (AFN) honors the most deserving audience in the world with a salute to the military and movies with a military theme on the Marine birthday and Veterans Day.

“We’re airing everything from movies with heroic themes, to a serious discussion about veterans’ issues to a program that will inspire you,” said AFN Network Chief of Entertainment, Karreem Lowe.

On Nov. 10, AFN|movie airs three films with a military theme on the Marine Corps Birthday: Rules of Engagement at 8:30 a.m., Windwalkers at 11 a.m., and, at 2:30 p.m., Jarhead.

AFN|movie airs a day of movies with a military theme on Veterans Day, starting with the classic 1963 movie The Great Escape at 7 a.m., followed by Love and Honor at 10 a.m., The Finest Hours at 12, Good Morning Vietnam at 2 p.m., Operation Cupcake at 5:30 p.m., Aloha at 7 p.m., Unbroken at 9 p.m., and Thank You for Your Service at 11 p.m..

AFN|spectrum airs NOVA: Great Escape at Dunkirk at 4 p.m. on Veterans Day. That’s followed at 5 p.m. with NOVA: The last B-24.

AFN|prime Pacific airs American Valor: A Salute to our Heroes at 4 p.m. Japan/Korea Time on Veterans Day. The same program airs at 4 p.m. Central European Time on AFN|prime Atlantic.

AFN|spectrum and AFN|prime air Salute to Veterans, a roundtable discussion about veterans’ issues with former NFL players, who are also veterans, multiple times Nov. 9-11.
