Creative stocking stuffers

Creative stocking stuffers

One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season, and especially Christmas morning, is the surprise of stocking stuffers. Sure, presents under the tree are great but usually these gifts came from a list – given to either family members, or Santa. But stocking stuffers are the perfect chance to show off your creative side and surprise loved ones with special trinkets and items they never knew they needed, and are going to love!

1. LEGOS

Legos are fun for both kids and adults alike. Even better, with so many varieties, special sets and themes, Legos are an incredibly versatile stocking stuffer where the only limitation to what you can build, is your imagination. Remember if there are small children in the home, keep those smaller pieces out of reach.

2. Portable phone charger

With more people carrying cell phones, at younger ages, a portable charger is a perfect gift. Chargers come in a variety of price ranges and styles, from keyrings to bracelets that pop open with a USB port. For adults on the go, it’s a lifesaver if you need to make just one more call, or get last minute emails finished. For kids, they won’t have to worry about their phone running out of juice before they finish a game. And for parents, kids no longer have the excuse, “my phone died.” It’s a win-win for everyone!

3. Umbrellas

Invented in 1852, the humble umbrella is a surprisingly practical gift (especially for cold, wet European weather) and is perfect for stockings. The adults and teens in your life will love small, purse-sized versions, while kids will love bright, colorful umbrellas – often available with lots of embellishments, glitter and sparkle.

4. Coloring books

Coloring books have always been popular with children, but over the past few years have skyrocketed in popularity among teens and adults as a stress-reliever. Once a novelty item, most stores are packed with beautiful versions for both children and adults.

5. Temporary tattoos

As a kid, having a “lick and stick” temporary tattoo was the epitome of coolness. In my mind at least! Temporary tattoos have come a long way since then, and offer a wide variety of options to include favorite movie characters, glitter or foil embellishments, gems and more. Don’t forget about a great adult version – seasonal, fancy nail appliques!
