First Joint Suicide Prevention/Intervention Workshop held in Yokohama

YOKOHAMA, Japan -- United States Army Japan's directorate of personnel, along with the South Kanto Defense Bureau and Zama Defense Office, successfully completed the first Joint Suicide Prevention/Intervention Workshop June 17-18.

This interactive and practical two-day workshop was facilitated by Captain Fumiko Waki, psychology instructor from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.

Those attending learned strategies for how to help an employee in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Participants include Japanese human relations specialists from Camp Zama, Camp Kure and Okinawa; labor specialists from Camp Zama, Yokota Air Base and Camp Fuji Defense Officers; and welfare specialists from Zama City and Yokosuka City labor management officers.
