First Open Beach Day at Torii a blast

On May 5, Torri Beach officially kicked off this year’s beach season with the first of several Open Beach Days. Many Americans and local Okinawans enjoyed walking in the shallow water, sunbathing in the sand, or relaxing under parasols as they enjoyed sizzling hamburgers and hotdogs or sipping on cold beer.

In the kids’ area, children’s screams of fun reverberated as they went down water sides and jumped in bouncy houses. The fun mood peaked when many people joined in Sunset Zumba, where they showed off their funky dance moves with big smiles on their faces.

During the offseason, serenity ruled Torii Beach. But on this day, the beach showed a different face with many festivities. This is the first of five Open Beach Days scheduled in 2018, with next one coming up on July 4.
