With an aim to prevent traffic accidents and road hazards on Route 449 in Nago City, heavy trucks are now restricted from driving a portion of the road.

Okinawa Prefectural Police officials said this restriction affects motor trucks with a load capacity of 8 tons or more barring these vehicles on the 1.77-mile stretch of road from Miayazato to Yabu-nishi intersections. Route 449 branches out from Route 58 and runs on the west coast of Nago City, passing Tapic Stadium Nago and Captain Kangaroo (hamburger shop) before reaching the west coast of Motobu Peninsula.

Trucks will need a special permit to use this road available through the Nago Police Station at 0980-52-011.
