You may be hard press to find the thrill and wagering of stateside horse racing on Okinawa. There is, however, a horse of a different color.
In recent years, the 500-year-old Ryukyu Keiba, or “umaharashii,” has made a comeback. In traditional umaharashii races, horses compete not only in speed but also in beauty and elegance.

Dumbfounding. Humorous. Aggravating. Sometimes a head-scratcher.  Other times just downright scary.
Bike riders in Japan. They are everywhere. And most seem oblivious to the laws of the road, many of which were established in the past year and don’t seem to be enforced consistently by Japanese police.

WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- The Air Force is scheduled to implement a web-based tool that will enable military members and their families to connect with installation housing offices to inquire about housing options at their upcoming duty assignment.

Camp Foster – In partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and Defense Commissary Agency at Camp Foster will honor all who served during the Vietnam War with free commemorative lapel pins marking the war’s 50th anniversary.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (NNS) – Strike fighter squadron (VFA) 27 and VFA 102, from Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) will arrive at MCAS Iwakuni (MCASI) this week, completing their relocation from Naval Air Facility Atsugi (NAFA) to MCASI.
