TINIAN, North Marianas Islands – U.S. service members spent the past two weeks on Tinian preparing the site for participants in Valiant Shield 2014, which commenced Sept. 15 at various locations on land and in the sea, in and around Tinian and Guam. 

SOBE WARD, Okinawa – Officials from U.S. Army Garrison – Okinawa attended a celebration for the 2014 Respect-for-Senior-Citizens Day at the Sobe Community Center Sunday afternoon, as hundreds of Japanese gathered to celebrate one of Japan’s largest demographics.

Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan -- Saya Onodera was only a few days away from graduating the 6th grade at Oshima Elementary School when a magnitude 9-earthquake, followed by a massive tsunami, struck her hometown of Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Fortunately, her school sits on higher ground, and the students were spared.

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton hosted a wreath laying ceremony at the Pacific Views Events Center here, Sept. 12, to commemorate the 64th Anniversary of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.
