This year’s Earth Day may be over, but you can still celebrate by helping clean up some of Okinawa’s beautiful beaches. Join a few Okinawa groups including Camp Butler’s Environmental Affairs and Facebook group Okinawa Beach Cleanup for various cleanups they’re hosting over the weekend. All are encouraged to participate and to download apps Pririka and Clean Swell, which help track how many bags of trash were collected to use in data and environmental reports. For more information visit Okinawa Beach Cleanup’s facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ProtectOki.

Clean up events:

  • April 27 – Oku Beach at 2 p.m.
  • April 28 – Yoshinoura Park Beach at 9 a.m.
  • April 28 – Uruma Highway 37 Beach at 9 a.m.
