Local community service organization receives Chapter of the Year Award for the third year in a row

The members of Sigma Gamma Gamma Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. located in Okinawa, Japan received the 13th International District 2017 – 2018 Chapter of the Year Award. The announcement was made during the 13th International District Meeting held on July 18 – 19, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana prior to the commencement of the 81st Grand Conclave of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. This marked the third year in a row the Chapter has received this award.

The Chapter of the Year Award is presented to the chapter in the 13th International District of Omega Psi Phi that has made significant contributions on the District and the International level of the Fraternity as well as to its local community. The 13th District consist of 17 chapters in the following countries and locations: Canada, Ghana, United Kingdom, Japan, Republic of Korea, Germany, Okinawa, Bahamas and Hawaii.

In addition to receiving the Chapter of the Year Award, the following members from Sigma Gamma Gamma Graduate Chapter received the following awards from the 13th International District:

- Superior Service Award – Mr. Cortez Pree

- Omega Man of the Year Award – Mr. Michael Robinson

The Superior Service Award is awarded to a member who has demonstrated outstanding contributions and concern for the activities of his Chapter and local community. He must have served in a manner above and beyond the ordinary participation levels necessary to implement programs and projects.

The Omega Man of the Year Award is awarded to a member who supports all the Fraternity’s Mandated Programs, has held various leadership roles and made significant contributions to his Chapter, local community, District and on the International level of the Fraternity above and beyond the ordinary participation levels.
