Marine Corps Installations Pacific to hold Force Protection Exercise

Marine Corps Installations Pacific to hold Force Protection Exercise

by Staff Sgt. Lucas Vega
U.S. Marine Corps

This is a U.S. led exercise with participation from different units within Marine Corps Installations Pacific to include Marine Corps Base Butler and Marine Corps Air Station Futenma.

Exercise Constant Vigilance 19 will validate and refine incident response procedures and train personnel on actions required in a crisis response event.

During the exercise, local residents may see Marines conducting security drills. While Marines with protective equipment and weapons may be visible inside the fence line, the training weapons are always handled in a safe manner.

Additionally, residents may experience a change in traffic patterns and gate delays around the Marine Corps Base Butler camps and Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. The most significant impacts will occur in and around Camps Foster, Lester and Plaza Housing on 24 September where gate closures will be in effect as early as 0830 and as late as 1900.
Gate 1 (Bldg. 1)
Gate 3 (Fire Station)
Gate 4 (Spot)
Gate 7 (Hospital)
Gates 5 (Commissary) and 6 (Legion) WILL REMAIN OPEN; however, heavy traffic and gate delays should be expected due to enhanced Force Protection measures, particularly during the afternoon commute. Gate 3 (Fire Station) will be open ONLY for fire/emergency response.
