CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan--U.S. Marines assigned to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler conducted a perimeter clean up on April 19, 2019.

"We hosted this clean up because we want to show that we care about this island, we have a great host nation and this is our way to give back the community,” said U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Lynette Marr-Gaye, sergeant major of Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Smedley D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan.

Although this clean up was held in support of Earth day, the Single Marine Program hosts clean-ups every weekend to preserve Okinawa's beauty.

"If you're not busy on Saturdays, I would highly recommend you go out and give an hour of your time to clean up our base," said U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Sarah Stegall, a Combat Photographer with Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler. “This is our way to show our appreciation for Okinawa.”
