Pro hoops season underway on Okinawa

Once again, Japan’s professional basketball league is underway and unlike baseball, Okinawa has its own team.
The Ryukyu Golden Kings have already tipped off the 2018-19 season in the B. League, and with a schedule similar to that of the NBA, you have plenty of opportunities to witness the hoops action in person.
If you’re looking for some live basketball action, the Okinawa City Gymnasium - the main home stadium for the Kings – is just a five-minute drive from Gate 2 at Kadena Air Base.
The Kings will host their next home game at the Okinawa City Gym on Nov. 7 when the Fukuoka Rizing Zephyr come to town for an 8:05 p.m. tipoff.
For more information, and to check game locations, visit the team’s website at Contact MCCS Okinawa or Kadena ITT for tickets.
