11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, Japan time: Chan-hom made landfall and passed just north of Tokyo late Tuesday evening as a middling tropical storm, according to Joint Typhoon Warning Center’s latest forecast track.
At 9 p.m., Chan-hom was about 30 miles northwest of Narita International Airport, heading west-southwest at 20 mph and had weakened to 40-mph sustained winds and 50-mph gusts.
All U.S. bases in Japan remained in seasonal Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness posture through Tuesday evening.Read more at stripes.com.
