USO Okinawa receives $10K donation from Matson

On behalf of Bernadette “Bernie” Valencia, Vice President and General Manager of MATSON®, Kyle Yamanoha, MATSON® Representative in Okinawa, presented their 2020 Silver Sponsorship-level donation to Phil VanEtten, USO Okinawa Area Director and C.K Hyde, USO Pacific Regional Vice President.

“We are truly grateful Matson decided to continue their sponsorship going into our second year. Their sponsorship is special and helps USO Okinawa provide quality programming and services to our service members and their families, “VanEtten said.

Matson provides shipping services Pacific-wide and has been doing so since 1882. More specific to U.S. personnel in Okinawa, they deliver foods and goods used by our local exchanges, commissaries, and mess halls. They even delivery military equipment and vehicles along with household goods for service members and personnel moving to Okinawa. So, the next time you see a MATSON® shipping container, there is a high likelihood that it contains something you need or own. Also, please smile knowing that MATSON® sponsors USO Okinawa.

Through that sponsorship, they help the USO strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. Their generosity has a direct, immediate, and positive effect on the lives and morale of U.S. Service Members and their families in Okinawa.
