Tell Us About Them:

Hiromi Miyazato started work as the Okinawa Area Office Administrative Assistant on 11 July, 2016 and quickly adjusted to her duties within the USO. It took us a while to find Hiromi, but there is “no doubt” she was worth the wait. Hiromi-san has extensive experience as a corporate translator and Product Developer for a major U.S. Corporation with Operations in Okinawa.

On the personal side, she was born and raised on the beautiful island of Okinawa and lived here most of her life. She did have a chance to live in the states for four years in both Seattle, Washington and Salt Lake City, Utah. She says it was a great experience and has many fond memories of her time in the states.

She is the mother of two beautiful daughters who are 15 and 13 years old. They are great kids most of the time and are the center of Hiromi’s universe. She thinks she learns as much from them as they learn from her. They truly are her life and passion.

Hiromi-san likes to travel, watch movies, driving around for sightseeing and go to many events on this island to enjoy. She is so excited to be a member of USO Okinawa team, but not nearly as excited as the rest of the USO team!

Fun Questions!

1. Why do they love working at the USO?
I love working at the USO because we all know what our mission is and work hard providing great services for service members and families. I am honored to be a part of it! I have been working for almost 2 years now, and I truly enjoy working with so many amazing and talented people. I am motivated to learn how to improve myself and better support our mission. I want to thank all the USO Okinawa staff as they treat me like family. I love working with all of them.

2. What is their favorite memory of working at the USO?
My favorite memory of working at the USO is definitely our Service Salute Gala. It’s an annual event with many traditions, but we recently changed it to be more efficient and exciting during the ceremony. There is a lot of work needed in preparation for this great event, but well worth it after all. I feel very happy when the service members from the U.S. and Japan tell me how much they enjoyed participating in the Gala and how they and appreciate what we do.
