Army Scholarship Foundation to host fifth annual Help our Heroes luncheon Nov. 6
The Army Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce its fifth annual Help our Heroes luncheon to be held on November 6 at 11:30 am at Brook Hollow Golf Club, 8301 Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas, Texas. Guest of honor will be NASA Astronaut Robert Shane Kimbrough and Celebrity Master of Ceremonies, Mark Davis, from 660 AM The Answer.
Robert Shane Kimbrough is a veteran of two spaceflights. He completed his first spaceflight in 2008 on STS-126, where he spent almost 16 days expanding living quarters aboard the Internatinal Space Station (ISS) to accommodate a six-member crew. In 2017, Kimbrough served as commander for the Expedition 49/50 mission. During this 6-month mission, he performed 4 spacewalks and conducted hundreds of scientific experiments. Kimbrough has now logged a total of 189 days in space and conducted 6 spacewalks outside the ISS,
Born in Killeen, Texas, Kimbrough attended The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating in 1985. Kimbrough graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1989 with a B.S. in aerospace engineering. He played for the West Point baseball team for 4 years, and was selected as team captain his senior year. Kimbrough served as an Apache helicopter pilot in the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, in 1991. Kimbrough later attended and graduated from Georgia Tech with a M.S. in operations research in 1998. He helped NASA train astronauts on landing procedures for several years before he himself was selected for training. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of colonel.
Mark Davis is an American radio host, newspaper columnist and commentator. His local talk show, The Mark Davis Show, airs weekdays 660AM "The Answer" KSKY in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. His popular column is published in The Dallas Morning News. Mark Davis hosts national network talk shows on a regular basis.
Born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, Davis graduated from the University of Maryland in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.
The Army Scholarship Foundation was established in 2001 by a group of Army veterans in the spirit of continued lifetime service to the nation. The Foundation provides scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of Army soldiers and veterans, and to spouses of enlisted active duty soldiers.
