BHPS school-wide story time
Who knew reading could be such a sweet treat? The students at Bob Hope Primary School can tell you a thing or two about that! Since late October, the entire student body, families, faculty, and administration have been involved in a book club. Each family received a copy of The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling.
The PTO has worked with faculty members to plan several in-school activities, including a spectacular kick-off complete with hot chocolate and cookies.
More importantly, a connection has been made between families, students and teachers. Conversations about the latest chapter can be heard in classrooms. As Principal Michelle Jones says, “When a whole school reads a book, there’s a lot to talk about!”
Students are also involved in stimulating math activities and trivia questions related to the story told in The Chocolate Touch.
All of these literature-centered activities will better prepare students to be effective readers.
