Kadena Air Base, OKINAWA, Japan – The official NFL Football ProCamp hosted by running back Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams will take place Mar 14-15 at the Ryukyu Middle School, Kadena Air Base. Boys and girls, grades 1- 8, who are dependents of active duty service members, retirees and DOD civilian employees, are eligible to register for the free camp beginning TODAY at 7 p.m. To register, parents can click on Okinawa.USO.Org/Events.

The NFL offensive leader, Gurley, played in the 2019 Super Bowl, was awarded the 2015 NFL Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year and 2017 NFL Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year. He has 70 career touchdowns to his credit. He also made the list of the NFL Top 100 in 2016, 2018, and 2019.  He played in three Pro Bowls and was named to two First Team All Pro lists.

“It’s one thing to have such a great NFL program come all the way to Okinawa but it’s a whole new level when such a well-known athlete like Todd Gurley comes this far,” Phil VanEtten, USO Okinawa Area Director said. “It shows just how important military children are to our nation. We are honored to have Todd Gurley here to show them just how important they are to him and to our country.”

The ProCamp, sponsored in part by the Defense Commissary Agency, The Exchange, USO, and Proctor & Gamble, is open to 200 student athletes. Spectators are welcome to join in the fun and watch the camp from the stands.

“This youth event is a great opportunity to bring the military community together for a fun-filled weekend of instruction and a chance to meet one of the NFL’s super stars,” Cindy Kirkman, Okinawa USO Programs Manager said. “This is another great way the USO gets to connect service members to family, home and country.”

The ProCamp staff of professionals and local coaches will assist Gurley at the camps that will run from 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Mar 14 and from 9 – 12 a.m. on Sunday, Mar 15.

“We are excited to have highly qualified coaches volunteer from both Kadena and Kubasaki High Schools as well as Okinawa Youth Football,” Angela Tom, USO Foster Center manager said. “We even have cheerleaders that are coming out to cheer on these young athletes as they learn from one of NFL’s best.”

Want to get a Todd Gurley autograph? You can meet up with him at the Camp Foster Commissary Friday, Mar 13, 5-6 p.m. or at the Kadena Exchange Saturday, Mar 14, 10 -11 a.m. Get there early and feel free to bring your own items to be signed by this NFL great.
