Army & Air Force Exchange Services opens Bun-D restaurant at Kadena AB

KADENA AIR BASE – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is celebrating the grand opening of Bun-D, a better-for-you restaurant, in the Olympic Mall at Kadena Air Base.

“Bun-D restaurant will give our military community another healthy-dining option,” said Exchange Pacific Region Commander Lt. Col. Michael Kovalchek, who spoke at the Nov. 19 ribbon-cutting “The Exchange leadership is committed to providing our community with choices and options to live a healthier lifestyle.”

Bun-D focuses on natural, unprocessed ingredients for its menu, which includes daily-made sauces, fresh salads, wraps and rice bowls with chicken or beef.

“I am proud of our Exchange team as they continue to look for healthy ways to support our customers,” Okinawa Exchange General Manager David Swenson said. “The Exchange team will continue to look for ways to serve and provide for the needs of our military community.”

The Exchange continues to promote better-for-you choices as part of its BE FIT program, which highlights health-conscious dining, wellness services and an assortment of fitness gear.

There are currently 32 Bun-D restaurants at Exchange locations throughout the world to include Germany, UK, Guam and Korea with five more restaurants on the way to be opened by 2022.
