Kafuu Resort Fuchaku: Fine dining, fare pricing

Those looking for special culinary treat can find authentic Mediterranean cuisine made from local in-season ingredients at Wine & Dining The Orange restaurant in Kafuu Resort Fuchaku Condo Hotel.

One of the best appetizers on the menu of this fine-dining facility is the view. Sitting atop a hill facing the East China Sea, The Orange gets its name from its bird’s eye views of breathtaking sunsets against the backdrop of Onna-son Beach.

“You can see the blue ocean and sky gradually transform into vivid shades of golden orange from our terrace or window-side tables while enjoying your meal,” says Kafuu marketing staffer Arisa Otsuru.

The Orange’s center-stage attractions, however, are its Italian and Spanish dishes such as pastas, risottos, ajillo and paella, according to Kafuu’s food and beverage manager, Tsutomu Kinjo.

“Our Spanish-Italian dishes and beverages are prepared using fresh local Okinawan ingredients that are in season,” he says. “And they are provided at rather reasonable prices.”

For dinner, the restaurant offers three different courses, Mar (sea) for 4,000 yen ($40), “Sol” (sun) for 6,000 yen  and “Estrella” (stars) for 10,000 yen, along with various a la carte selections.  The a la carte menu includes such delicacies as Octopus Ajillo, an island octopus stewed in anchovy garlic oil for 850 yen, which published reviews laud for its unique flavor, tenderness and perfect pairing with beer or wine.

Although the restaurant is mainly occupied by Kafuu Resort guests during dinner hours, locals and travelers dine there as well. The Orange’s popular semi-buffet-style lunch which starts at just 1,500 yen is also a hit with locals. The lunch buffet allows you to taste the restaurant’s highly rated cuisine by choosing an entrée with the fixed set of all-you-can-eat appetizers and dessert.

“For the lunch buffet, Spaghettini Amatriciana (spaghetti with bacon and Pecorino in a cheese tomato sauce) and Beni Pork Ribs (barbecued spare ribs) are two of our most popular main dishes,” says Otsuru.

As The Orange is a popular, reservations are highly recommended.

“When we take reservations, and we always ask customers if they have any food allergies or can’t eat certain foods,” says Kinjo.
