After a last-minute decision led us to head out in search of a nice Sunday night meal, my wife and I found ourselves with more than we had expected.
With a long day of chores and activities behind us, our restaurant hunting led us through the streets of Okinawa with a tasty meal on the mind.
In the end, we eventually found ourselves enjoying a buffet and a show at a place that has won multiple Best of the Pacific awards – Sam’s By-The-Sea.
We were pleasantly surprised that on this night, the restaurant was offering a special dinner buffet and Hawaiian show. Nestled against the eastern Okinawan seas, with panoramic views, Sam’s By-The-Sea offered the perfect location for the Hawaiian-themed entertainment.
The buffet included Lomi Lomi Salmon, Seafood Lua, Garlic Shrimp, Kalua Pig, Maui Barbecued Spare Ribs, Mochiko Chicken. Haupia Cream Pie, Tropical Pana Cotta, assorted fruits, shaved ice and more.
The show consisted of a band named La La Ka Pua – a group of local Okinawans singing in the traditional Hawaiian language, along with a Hula Dancers to back them up.
Even without the Hawaiian show, we would have been satisfied with the Western-friendly dinner menu available and excellent food. Sam’s is also the only place on Okinawa that I have found to serve live Maine Lobsters!
