31st MEU Honors a Marines sacrifice and his sense of Esprit de Corps

31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

Major Nathan Green, a logistics officer with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, flips a tire during a physical training event honoring Navy Cross recipient Sgt. Rafael Peralta on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 15, 2019. While serving with the 31st MEU during Operation Phantom Fury in 2004, Peralta jumped on a grenade to save his fellow Marines’ lives. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
