31st MEU: We make it look easy

31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Dustin Lees, an explosive ordnance disposal technician with Battalion Landing Team 1/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), pulls a wire to set up a controlled detonation of explosive charges during a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel (TRAP) exercise on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 9, 2022. Along with personnel and aircraft recovery, TRAP teams are also tasked with destroying sensitive material when deemed necessary, in order to deny the enemy access. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
