Tell Us About Them:
Henry was born in Philadelphia and raised in New Jersey. Henry is a big believer of “Quality over Quantity”. He places a high value on loyalty and friendships are important to him. He still maintains a solid relationship with the same four friends from his elementary school. Any day he doesn’t laugh at least once is a bad day and he has few of them. He enjoys listening to other people’s views and opinions and learning from them. He believes there is something to learn (good or bad) from everyone he meets. He’s lived in Japan for over 16 years. Because of what he’s learned from the good people of Japan and their culture, he believes that humility and respect are essential things in life. He is passionate about his family, photography, and watching or playing sports. He really loves basketball and supports all his home teams (Phillies, Eagles, etc.).
As the Area Operations Manager, Henry is involved in almost every aspect of USO Okinawa. He coordinates the clear majority of the logistics behind all of our major programming. He helps centers with programs as well and is one of two licensed drivers for the truck and USO Okinawa Mobile. Thanks for all you do Henry!
1. Why do you love working at the USO?
The mission of “connecting service members and their families to the things they love most” is very rewarding. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to give back to the armed services in a unique way. Even though may daily work schedule and involvement in large scale projects has me in the back office, I feel very good about the role I play in achieving our mission of connectivity here in Okinawa.
2. What is your favorite memory of working at the USO?
Participating in the creation of our USO Okinawa Holiday Greeting Video on Torii Beach. Wonderful day, wonderful memories with a wonderful team!
3. Which program do you want to feature from your center?
As the Area Operations Manager, I work primarily out of the Okinawa administrative office. Orchestrating and administrating large scale events is our focus. For this reason, the USO Color Blast 5K Fun Run which takes place every November the weekend before Thanksgiving is the program that I love supporting. Seeing participants being doused with color powder while running a 5K is a fun experience. Having the event on beautiful Torii Station only adds to the festive atmosphere of the fun-run.
