Airman 1st Class Dakota James, 18th Security Forces Squadron defender, is sprayed with oleoresin capsicum during exposure training at Kadena Air Base, Japan, Oct. 6, 2021. There are three levels of contamination a subject can be exposed to OC spray — level one contamination occurs when a subject is sprayed directly in the face. In order to be certified to carry OC spray, defenders must be exposed to level one contamination.
