My morning ritual includes freshly brewed coffee overlooking my backyard, usually observed from inside my home.

The very first place to dine in the last village on Okinawa's famed Route 58 is hidden inside the Oku Yanbaru no Sato recreation area once entering Oku. Look for the river valley and grassy area once descending from the winding mountainous road.

It was a late Sunday night and I wasn’t looking forward to finishing an awesome weekend without an exciting dinner. This place was brought to my attention by my lovely date. She had heard about this place from a friend who had previously eaten here and enjoyed their style of food.

When I visited my relatives recently in Itoman City,  I had a dining adventure with them at Vegetarian Café Choukrane.  I came across it online right before my trip, and ended up eating there two days in a row. Slightly over indulgent? Perhaps, but well worth it. So, yummylicious.

Many of the larger shopping malls in Okinawa are heavily anchored by one tenant but still have traditional mall amenities such as the coveted food court.

I've long been a fan of revolving restaurants like the one's at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, and the Doubletree Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Seeing the round rooftop in Chatan at the corner of Routes 130 and 58 I imagined it would be such a restaurant that turns while dining.
