I’ll never forget the first time I drank bubble tea, also known as Boba, or pearl tea.

One thing many may miss about the States is the unending supply of pancake or French toasts breakfasts. Sure, base eateries have these covered on weekends but what about those weeknight hankerings? Well, crave no more.

I never went to the Blueberry Cafe. Still, it was difficult to miss when it closed this summer.

As my son and I walked through the door of Milkhall Iramina Cafe, the aroma of bread baking stirred memories of comfort and warmth. It immediately took me back to the days of my mother baking bread. The aroma of garlic was a bonus for my son. He loves garlic!

I discovered the newly opened Hikari ramen shop nine years ago and have been a regular visitor for its unbelievably low priced yet delicious ramen, rice and gyoza sets.

It's a bit perplexing but refreshing at the same time to see a few of the beloved but now defunct franchise restaurants of my youth thriving here on Okinawa.
