2020 Naha Tug-of-War, marathons cancelled on Okinawa
The COVID-19 outbreak continues to take its toll on major events on Okinawa.
The Naha Tug of War, a Guinness-certified event that draws more than of 250,000 annually every October, has officially been cancelled for 2020.
The Naha Marathon, the biggest race Okinawa, will also not be held this year. The 36th installment of the event has been postponed until December 2021. The Okinawa Marathon, another big race that was originally scheduled for Feb. 21 of 2021, has been pushed to Feb. 20, 2022.
The Urasoe Tedako Festival, which was scheduled to take place in October, has also been called off, according to the website of Camp Kinser’s host municipality.
