AmericaFest 2020 Cancelled

AmericaFest 2020 Cancelled
Against the backdrop of growing concerns about Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Pacific region, the 18th Wing announced its cancellation of AmericaFest 2020.
The announcement was made on Wednesday March 4 by Brig. Gen. Joel L. Carey, Commander of the 18th Wing through a message posted on Kadena Air Base’s facbook account.
“The safety of our community, both on and off base, is my top priority, and with the number of cases of COVID-19 continuing to rise the safest thing to do is to cancel AmericaFest 2020,” said the brigadier general as he explained why he came to the conclusion. He added, “Team Kadena was really looking forward to this event and are disappointed to see it cancelled, but we need to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy.”
This open-gate festival was scheduled to take place on April 25 on Kadena Air Base featuring programs such as static display of tactical aircrafts, live performance, and fireworks.
